Actress Kanika Maheshwari who essayed the character of Meenakshi Raathi in Star Plus' popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum and continued the same character in season 2 titled Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaaji is making a comeback after 4 years on television. The actress will be seen in a very different avatar this time.
Going to be seen in a pivotal role in Sony TV's upcoming show 'Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye', Kanika will be part of a stellar cast put together for this show. Set in the 1947 era in Lahore, the story will be based on 3 girls striving to achieve their passions, dreams and hopes at the brink of partition and India's Independence. Speaking about what made her take up the role, Kanika shares, "The 1947 Independence concept of the show made me take up the role. It is a very different role compared to what I have played on screen in the past. I am playing a widow in a no-makeup look, and my character is colourful but with no colours to her personality, which made the role an even more intriguing and interesting one for me to take up. I have never been part of such a unique storyline before and it definitely got me excited when I was approached for the show, so I just had to take it up!".
